Numbers

Author: J Crowley | @ 2:09 am | Filed under:

So will 500 Days of Summer be as good as (((12 Chairs + 12 Monkeys + 12 Angry Men) * 28 days later) – 8 Mile) / 10 + (25th Hour * 4 Weddings and a Funeral * Fantastic 4)? Or will it fail to live up to the hype?

James Urbaniak wonders, “Does 500 Days of Summer satisfactorily resolve the story begun in 300 and The 400 Blows? Or is it Godfather III all over again?”

I’m just hoping they manage to tie up all the loose ends that have been dangling since 200 Cigarettes.

So many number-movies. Hollywood lost me after “The Number 23.” Thanks for pointing it out, Joel Schumacher, because if it was just “23,” I wouldn’t know whether you were referring to the number 23, or the flavor 23. Maybe it means the belch-chorus 23.

You forgot about the square root of Rocky!

  3. Felis Says:

Ah, yes, but what is the square root of Rocky? There’s six titles in the Rocky saga, aren’t there (I, II, III, VI, V, Balboa)? So, which would it be?

And only the first five titles have integers, so do you have to discount the sixth film? I’m confused now. What’s the square root of Balboa?

  4. Needingsun Says:

There were only six?! That is unbelievable. It seems as though there were at least eight or nine.

    Hey, J!

I really enjoy your dissertations on Chick, think they’re hilarious (and also alarming, but that’s Chick’s fault and not yours).

It recently came to my attention that ‘The Truth For Youth’ comics recently lost their trademark status and thus are ripe for the deconstruction:

If you haven’t seen them before, they’re very slick comics for kids (in manga style) that are a lot more disturbing and bigoted then they might first appear. Really a lot like a better-drawn Chick tract.

    Luerka, I love you.

Merf. Sounds like another boring “chick movie” about luuuuurve.
    I prefer 300.

  8. Efrain Says:

I heard that they’re working on a prequel with a really odd title “The 120 Days of Sodom, or the School of Licentiousness” :3
